The colours of the Grand Canyon are like nothing I've ever seen before. The deep oranges contrasted with the bright blue skies are breathtaking.. and then when you add in the magentas and the olive greens of the place it all just feels like you're standing inside some beautiful psychedelic dream.
Whenever I visit a new place that's always the first thing that stands out to me. The colours, textures and tones of the landscape (especially something as 'grand' and the canyon). We flew over Hoover Dam by helicopter and landed inside the rim of the Canyon, where we then took a short boat ride on the river. We were then flown back up, where we travelled by bus between the three incredible lookout points.
I remember feeling so taken aback by the beauty and the sheer size of the place.. I photographed. A LOT. But I always remember to put my camera down and take the time to just.. be. The feeling of the dirt beneath your boots, the breeze, the heat, the smells & the sounds and the movements of the place. Photographs help us to remember those moments in time, but they can never quite return you to all that you were feeling in that exact minute.
It was truly an amazing experience, and a place that I will never ever forget - a highlight of my life.
These photographs mean so much to me!
The Grandest of Canyons
